C. C. Lu received the B.S. degree in control engineering from the National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1983 and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, in 1985 and 1988 respectively. Since August 1988 he has been with Kent State University and he is currently Professor of Computer Science. His research interests are data compression, image processing, data mining, and mobile computing. He established the Computer Vision and Image Processing Lab with OBR (Ohio Board of Regents) funding and the lab has grown significantly with subsequent external research grants. 25 MS students and 6 Ph.D students have graduated under his supervision. His research has been funded by Cray Research Inc., Motorola Inc., NASA, Air Force, and NSF.
